Monument/historical tour

Toni Ramirez, of the Guam Parks/Rec/Historical Society was kind enough to take us on a lengthy tour of some of Guam's historical sites. Guam is a very historical place, going back to Ferdinand Magellan, old Spanish forts and churches, and of course, WWI and WWII memorials. And I must not forget the ancient history of the Chamorro natives, which provides a vast amount of archaeological value!

The purpose of this page is not to give you a detailed tour, as you need Toni for that (!!) but rather to demonstrate the vast array of history available. Included in these photos are an old Spanish fort/cannons, Japanese cannons from WWII, the hill in which the U.S. Marines so bravely marched to recapture Guam, and a variety of military memorials.

Thank you Toni! Be sure to check out the Guam Parks/Rec Dept. if you decide to visit Guam. The Guam Visitor's Bureau (GVB) also has a self-guided historical tour book which gives you directions in finding some of these areas and monuments, by geographical regions.
